The beginning of spring sports includes the start of baseball. For sophomore Grady Westphal, the start brings an exciting season, starting of with a record of 4-4. “It’s been pretty good,” Westphal said. “We’ve won quite a few games and we’ve also lost, but it’s been a fun season so far.” Along with winning games and doing the best he can, Westphal is ready for what’s to come. “ I’m friends with a lot of kids on the team, so seeing how we grow together and just seeing how we grow as a team [is exciting],” Weshphal said.

With multiple sports coming to an end and new ones starting, cheerleaders such as sophomore Kallyn Torgler have been reflecting on the season.
“My favorite part is probably either the run through where we hold up the sign or when it’s really close to the end and we figure out if they’re going to win or not in [those] last few seconds,” Torgler said.
According to Torgler, having cheerleaders at the various games is important.
“We engage the crowd,” Torgler said. “We help motivate them to be better for a team, just to give them more support.”

“The most exciting part about choir this year is the many opportunities we get that we didn’t have a chance to do last year. We have a lot more concerts built into the school year, multiple show choir competitions, show choir camps, and a lot of new possibilities for more,” senior Emma Niederhauser said. “I like the new department more because we perform a lot more current songs. We are getting new costumes, and I like all of the change and I think it’s going to be an awesome year.”

Arriving in style, senior Tate Gillen enters BV on return day —
cheering. Although he admits the vast increase in students seemed strange at first, he believes it also brought back a greatly missed sense of normalcy. “The freshmen and everybody deserve a good welcome back, so I think [it] was nice,” Gillen said.
