Going in a New Direction

Traffic is Different at Blue Valley High School

When students from Blue Valley came back from their summer vacation, they noticed a difference in the traffic pattern. The city of Overland Park added two roundabouts and a stop light, and made changes to the flow of the traffic in the parking lot.

How has the new traffic pattern affected students.“I don’t  like the roundabouts because it causes a lot more accidents — a lot of people don’t know how to use them”.said Junior David Star.

Junior Matthew Boushka said he thought “they should put a stoplight [instead of roundabouts].” Although later Boushka says, “ Honestly I haven’t seen anything bad about the roundabouts’’.With the installation of the roundabouts , how long will it take you to get out?“If I leave 10 minutes after it will take me like 30 minutes to get out and if I leave right away it will take me like 15 minutes”, said David. “ It takes me a minute to get out”, said Boushka. He also dose football so he gets he earlier and leaves later. It sounds like it is easier to get out at certain times and at certain spots.  “I really can’t tell the difference”.
