Let me start off by saying that I do not have Bieber fever. In fact, his new album Under the Mistletoe confirms that. Although I was not very intrigued by it, anyone who wants to hear a new kind of holiday songs will probably enjoy it.
I was expecting this new holiday album to be a cute mix of Christmas songs. However, this was not the case.
The first song that I heard was “Drummer Boy.” I was excited to hear one of my favorite holiday songs sung by one of the most famous young artists of our day.
I turned it on and out of the blue, Justin Bieber starts rapping this song. It was completely unexpected –– and not in a good way.
I will admit, I liked “All I Want for Christmas is You” that he sang with Mariah Carey. It was the typical holiday song I wanted to hear.
Kudos to Justin for trying to make a new holiday CD that is different from the norm. “Mistletoe” was a good attempt at trying to create a new popular song, but when I think of holiday songs I imagine something fun to sing along to. I don’t think I could successfully sing along to “Mistletoe” if I tried.
One of the songs on this album that is definitely sing-along-worthy is “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town.” This song is the perfect blend of Justin’s exceptional vocals and the classic song. I could definitely see myself chilling out by the fire, sipping a hot chocolate and singing along to this song over winter break.
If you are bored with hearing “Jingle bells” throughout the whole holiday season, I think you would really like Under the Mistletoe.
