On September 10, Apple unveiled their latest advances in technology.
Two new iPhones, a game-changing software update and a new radio were officially announced.
The software update, known as iOS7, brings a whole new appearance on all iPhones, new and old. The iOS7 has a completely changed design for all standard applications on the iPhone, iPad and iTouch products. One significant difference is the Control Center, which is exactly what it sounds like — a convenient new place to navigate your iPhone from by sliding up on the home screen. The new software will bring many pages of translucency so in many cases you are able to see a blurred image of your background while browsing an application. There will also be a different camera set-up allowing you to select a filter for your photo and organize your photos differently. Very little will be the same after updating your iPhone on Sept. 18.
Pandora has major competition coming up — the iTunes Radio will soon be released. The user of this radio is able to select a song, artist, or genre they enjoy and listen to songs related to it. The user may also choose options such as “Play More Like This” or “Never Play This Song.” Allowing almost complete control over what you listen to, this radio forms to you. Along with being ad free, the radio will be featured on most Apple products.
The iPhone 5c was announced along with iOS7. This iPhone has one main attraction: color. The iPhone 5c comes in five colors: pink, blue, green, yellow and white. To allow a variation of colors, Apple coated the original metal iPhone in plastic. Apple assures the iPhone 5c isn’t the typical cheap phone because underneath the colored plastic is a steel frame. The iPhone 5c includes a new camera and graphics that the iPhone 5 does not feature. The iPhone 5c ranges from $100 to $200.
Last but not least, the glamorous iPhone 5s. This new phone also brings a new color. Tagging along with the classic gray and silver, Apple proudly introduces gold. A remarkable feature of the iPhone 5s is the new way to lock and unlock the phone. The iPhone 5s will now recognize and unlock with the touch of your fingertip. This iPhone is said to be up to two times faster than all the others thanks to the A7 chip. This same chip allows an improvement of graphics as well. The iPhone 5s ranges from $200 to $400.
