DECA at Blue Valley
Students are getting prepared for the business world
DECA is continuing to grow at Blue Valley. DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America and its goal is to get high school and college kids ready for business. Many high school students at BV are looking forward to joining the team.
Junior Connor Holmes joined DECA for the first time this year. He
said he is excited for this opportunity.
“[I joined because] it looks good on my college resume, but also to gain experience in business,” Holmes said.
DECA gives you experience for the future by putting you in
situations that you will be when you get your first job Holmes later explained.
In competitions you may be presenting to a judge a business plan or interviewing for a fake job.
Junior Chance Holland also joined DECA this year for the first time. He said the meetings are fun, and there are usually snacks. The meetings are in Mrs. Peres room about once a month. He plans on joining the DECA board next year as a senior.
DECA has their first competition against other high schools in November at Blue Valley West.
