The summer of 2016, sophomore Bailey Begin met Fifth Harmony, a musical group, for the second time and Singer, song-writer, Shawn Mendes, for the first time in September.

“First Shawn was vine famous and my friend Cece told me about him and once his first album came out, I started listening to it and I’ve liked him ever sense. Cece [also] introduced me to Fifth Harmony. I started to like them after they were on ‘X Factor’,” Begin said.

Begin met Fifth Harmony at a meet and greet at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City and she met Shawn at the Doubletree Hotel in Omaha.

“Shawn Mendes actually wasn’t planned — we saw on Twitter that he was at a hotel in Omaha and so we went to the hotel and got kicked out by security guards. We were about to leave, and I turned around and saw him walk out of the hotel through the side doors. Then we got pictures and went back home.”

Begin’s mother, Stacy Begin, explained how good of friends Bailey is with the people she went with to both Shawn Mendes and Fifth Harmony.

“Abi and Cece are twins, and they met Bailey in fourth grade,” Stacy said. “She was in class with one of them and ever sense that they were like instant friends.”

Abi and Cece used to live close to the Begins, but they had to move for their father’s job.

“This impacted me a lot because they were my best friends,” Bailey said. “It all turned out to be OK because they get to visit a lot, and I get to go visit them a lot, so it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.”

Stacy said that they also don’t just see each other, but they stay in touch through social media and get to do fun things on occasion like meet famous people even though the costs get higher and higher.

“I wasn’t going to pay for all of [the second meet and greet and concert for Fifth Harmony],” Stacy said. The tickets were a lot more expensive so I made her purchase some of it.”

Bailey said she would love to see Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes again but Stacy said that Bailey would have to do some convincing to do that.

“I don’t know [if I would let her meet them again] because the tickets are getting really expensive and she has met Fifth Harmony twice now and Shawn once and been to the concert once,” Stacy said.

Although Bailey, Abi and Cece love both Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes, Stacy likes Shawn.

“I like Shawn the best, I think he is a cute boy and a good role model for all these young people nowadays. He just seems like a nice guy,” Stacy said.
