Puppy Love
Junior’s unique job fits her love for dogs
High Schoolers are known to have many jobs such as babysitting, cleaning cars at WaterWay or bagging groceries at Price Chopper. Junior Evelyn Diederich has been working at Land of Paws for a year and a half now.
“I love my job so much. I’ve always been obsessed dogs, so it has been so much fun getting to work with them every day,” Diederich said.
Diederich said she decided to apply because she wanted a job that she was excited about going to every day.
“I just knew that if I could get paid to play with dogs then it was a win-win for me,” Diederich said.
Land of Paws sells puppies and various dog toys and supplies.
“I have a lot of small tasks do when I have a shift,” Diederich said. “If I’m on the floor I help ring up customers, I also get to stock certain items and get puppies out for customers who want to play with them.”
Diederich said her favorite part of the job is getting to interact with puppies.
“I feed the puppies, give them play time, clean up their cages and give them lots of love,” Diederich said.
The junior said the job is rewarding but also emotional for her.
“Seeing the puppies get adopted is bittersweet, you want them to have a loving family but it’s also hard to see them go,” Diederich said.
She said she is so thankful for her job and couldn’t imagine herself working anywhere else.
“Land of Paws is one big family,” Diederich said. “I’m so thankful for the friendships and of course the sweetest puppies.”
