Seniors Express Excitement for Senior Night

On Friday, September 25th, Blue Valley will honor 2020 seniors on the football team at senior night with a game against the Blue Valley North Mustangs.

“Senior night is important because it honors all the hard work [we] have put in since freshman year,” said senior captain Clayton Power. “It’s a way to appreciate all we have accomplished.”

The seniors have been looking forward to this night since their freshman year, and are excited to be recognized for all the effort they have put into the program, even if it looks different from past years.

“It means a lot to finally get to this point,” said senior Ben Brown. “Even though it’s not quite the same experience, it’s still just as special.”

Being a senior on the team means setting a good example for the underclassmen. Seniors on the team are expected to be punctual and keep an eye on the team during practice, weights, and games.

“I need to be a vocal leader and give effort at all times,” said senior Tate Gillen. “Younger guys look up to us, so [I] have to always work hard and be a good leader.”

The seniors are excited to play one last season with the kids they grew up with and are hopeful to compete for a Blue Valley state title.

“While work still needs to be done, I’m looking forward to the playoffs where we’ll have the chance to achieve our ultimate goal — a state championship,” said Brown.
