Created by teacher Jason Dolezal, the Senior Faculty Challenge of 2021 has  begun. In this event, staff members and senior students form teams and compete against each other in a number of different games.

Cornhole was the first event for the Senior Faculty Challenge and took place on Nov. 9, 2021 in the Aux gymnasium.

Math teacher Mr. Jost competed in these games and has been doing the activity since his first year of teaching. He believes it’s a great way to connect with students.

“It’s a great way to compete against seniors [and] exert our dominance a little bit right before they graduate,” Jost said. “It’s just fun, friendly competition.”

Jost has high expectations for how the faculty will perform in the corn hole activity due to the faculty winning that event last year, but the event he is most excited about is the volleyball game.

“Volleyball is pretty fun, and I want some redemption because last year we weren’t very good at volleyball as a staff,” Jost said.

Jost enjoys how it has become a tradition for him over the years at BVHS, and one of the ways he says goodbye to some of his senior students.

“It’s been a thing that most teachers participate in some way, shape or fashion throughout my career,” Jost said, “It’s just a fun competition between seniors in the faculty— always has been.”

The cornhole tournament concluded on Thursday Nov. 11 during Tiger Time with staff members winning 8-4. The Senior Faculty Challenge will continue throughout the 2021-2022 school year.
