Humans of BV: Tori Wingrove
After finishing a lively senior season, cross country star Tori Wingrove has committed to the University of Kansas to continue her passion for running.
“I like KU for the school regardless of running, but I also really liked the coaching, and the freshmen at KU talked very highly of how the coaches brought them in and how they were trained,” Wingrove said.
The decision to continue running in college was not an easy one.
“At first I was really against running in college and I was 100% not going to do it, but I had a lot of fun my senior cross country year and I was sad when it ended, so I knew I wanted to do it in college,” she said. “The hardest part about deciding a school was when I was down to the last two [schools] because they both offered the same things. I’d go back and forth every day [making] pros and cons lists until I finally chose KU.”
Wingrove is eager to see what this next chapter has in store for her.
“I’m most excited for the competition — being surrounded by a bunch of great athletes and the opportunities it will bring,” she said. “I have no clue what I’m going to do after college with running, or if that’s even in my future, but I’m excited to see what it’s like.”
