Students, Faculty Discuss Calling in Class

As Finals approach, some students have differing opinions about class time — especially Sophomore Kevi Dhakal.

“I’m already prepared, so the work time isn’t useful to me” He stated.

Dhakal is always excited to receive calls during his class due to the rare nature of them during school hours,

“I feel like I never get any of these” the sophomore said.

While the calls may be fun, there are cons to this fun escape. Phones are already a major distraction, but when you have someone talking to you in real-time it can be even more so,

“Yeah, I’m definitely less focused on what we’re doing in class” Dhakal stated.

Another student, David Decoursey also has opinions on calling in class.

“I don’t like to be distracted from my work, but it can be cool to talk to other people during class” Decoursey stated.

He also doesn’t like to talk to people as much as others,

“I guess I’m more introverted, so calls aren’t really my thing” He confessed.

While he may not enjoy talking to others as much as his peers, calls still hold value to him,

“I like calling my close friends after school, that’s fun” the Sophomore said.

However, he doesn’t keep a negative attitude toward all distractions as he likes to play on his phone.

“I play Brawl Stars a lot,” He stated.
