Mentor: Kathy Peres
Biggest Impact
“I’ve taken a lot of classes for Mrs. Peres, and she’s really mentored me through business competitions, DECA and BPA. It has really ignited the fire to pursue a career in business. She showed me what cool things can be done in the world of business, and how it can be applied in real life through the school store.”
Most Important Lesson
“Definitely making connections with the people that you’re working with. In business, your #1 goal isn’t to make a profit. It’s not necessarily to have the most money. It’s really to fulfill the needs of the people you’re serving. It’s to make the connection, to figure out what you’re doing for the customers and do things for them. You’re a servant at heart.”

Mentor: Sam Dollins
Biggest Impact
“He showed me music is not just something that I can do for fun, but it’s also something that can help me change lives. He set me on this music education path I’m on now because he recommended the college to me and was always willing to help me find new opportunities.”
Most Important Lesson
“Take the opportunities that you’re given. He has this weird saying ‘It’s going to be great’ for any performance, no matter how good or bad the rehearsals have been. It’s having optimism and keeping that work ethic going, even if you think, ‘Oh, this isn’t going to be great.’ Try to make it the best it can be. You still have the time.”

Mentor: Jordan Dillon
Biggest Impact
“He’s kind of helped me understand that, although grades matter, my test anxiety isn’t something I should let overwhelm me or take over because, especially freshman [and] sophomore year, I was super in the mindset of, ‘Oh my gosh, I got a B, now the world’s over.’ He helped me understand that ‘You’re probably doing bad because you’re so stressed out. You need to take a second.’”
Most Important Lesson
“He taught me how to make learning fun and more of a game instead of ‘sit down, reread the textbook.’ He uses a lot of Gimkits and alternative learning methods in his class.”
