On Saturday May 1, members of the BV Newspaper and Yearbook staffs participated in the state journalism contest in Emporia.

Ten journalism students received Journalism Educators of Metropolitan Kansas City awards April 28. The Tiger Print took second place overall in Newspaper Sweepstakes. The following students won JEMKC awards:
Senior Allison Kohn took second place in Newspaper Regular Column Writing, Newspaper Editorial Writing, Newspaper Feature Story and received Honorable Mention in Newspaper News Informative Feature.
Senior Stephanie Roche took second place in Newspaper Overall Design.
Senior Sarah Clancey took first in Yearbook Sports Section Design.
Senior Emma Mosier took second and Honorable mention in Newspaper Editorial Cartoon.
Senior Jackie Lippert took Honorable Mention in Newspaper Sports Photography.
