The Scholars Bowl team took first place in the 5A State Championship on Saturday, Feb. 12.

“It is really hard to prepare for these type of things,” team sponsor Adam Wade said. “We basically ask a lot of questions and hope one of them pops up in competition.”

Senior Allen Xu said during the State competition in Wichita, the team members all scored fairly evenly. The team reached State after going 10-1 at the regional competition on Feb. 7.

“We have a lot of team chemistry that helps us do well,” Xu said. “Right when we need someone to answer that big question, they come through.”
