The Region-at-Large Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Awards  for 2011 were announced by Scholastic on Feb. 3.  Winners include seniors Lexi Dienstbier, Heather Fox, Makila Hennig and Kristi Thompson, juniors Aubrey Illig and Evelyn Davis and sophomore Katie Campbell.
These artists’ works were chosen from more than 12,00 entries.
Their work has been sent to the national level, and results will be available on March 12.
Campbell said she was excited to receive a high recognition for her art.
“I was actually speechless for a moment, then I was completely ecstatic,” she said.
