Seniors with 100 or more hours of community service qualify to receive a stole for graduation and Class Day.
KAY Club sponsor Kristin Asquith said students can use hours from past years, as long as they were completed during high school. She said students must have hours from at least two different service activities logged by April 1.
Asquith said seniors can buy the black and gold stole for approximately 6 dollars. She said the paid-for stoles will be available for pick-up before Class Day or graduation, since she can’t place the order before she collects payment.
Asquith said she decided to make the stoles available in order to recognize students who usually wouldn’t turn in their service hours.
“There are a lot of kids who do community service who don’t go out for Presidential [Community Service],” she said. “I thought it made sense to do something for those kids also.”
