Arriving at BV at 5:30 in the morning.
Not for early morning workouts or to decorate for an event.
No one is catching a bus to travel for a competition far away.
BV students will be arriving before the crack of dawn to be featured as Cool School of the Week by KCTV 5.
“I’ll be a long morning,” assistant principal Mollie McNally said. “It should be fun though.”
Beginning at 5:30, KCTV 5 will be airing teasers of prerecorded stories about the journalism department and debate. Between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. the orchestra, Fifth Wall Comedy Troupe, Chambers and cheer squad will be featured live.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for the students in our school to get media coverage,” McNally said. “We do have great athletics, but this is a great chance to say ‘here’s the whole picture.’”
Unlimited pancakes provided by Chris Cakes will be served bright and early for $3.
“We have a lot of spirit, especially compared to other schools,” freshman Madison Hoy said. “I don’t feel like other schools would be as fun as ours.”
McNally said although the event is early she believes there will be a good turnout from the student body.
“I think because so many clubs and activities want to be recognized, people will come,” she said. “Adrenaline will kick in, but by lunch everyone is going to be exhausted.”
