For the upcoming 2012-2013 school year, students can enroll online from Feb. 21 through Feb. 27.
On Feb. 28, students will need to turn in enrollment sheets to the front office with a copy of the online printout of the classes they selected.
The enrollment materials will be passed out on February 17 during 4th hour classes.
Counselor Deb Atkinson said the school is getting a new computer system to replace Esis, called Synergy.
“It’ll take us some time to get used to it,” she said. “But I think it’ll be much easier and a lot more effective.”
Though there will be a new system, Atkinson said enrollment will be run basically the same way.
“It’s still computer generated,” she said. “You can’t pick your hour, and you can’t pick your teacher.”
Atkinson said the four-year plan sheets can help students make wise decisions on which classes they want to take.
“I really want to emphasize that the ability to change schedules after they are set is very difficult,” she said. “Especially with cuts in funding and staff, students need to pick the schedules they want to have, and be very careful about it.”
Atkinson said with Synergy, alternates will be based on order of preference.
“With Esis, alternates were just matched up as they fit,” she said. “With the new system, however, students really need to list their first choice, then second choice, and so on.”
Atkinson said students should be careful in making sure graduation requirements are fulfileld.
“[Students] might miss out on graduation requirements,” she said. “They might not have the necessary prerequisites. This all goes back to the fact that we won’t have the ability to change schedules around — choose classes wisely.”
Students needing assistance with enrollment can go to the online course description guide or ask teachers what classes they recommend.
