Students who have taken French 3.0 or are currently in a higher level of French have the opportunity to travel to France this summer with French teacher Carol Bar.

Students from Blue Valley Southwest, BV North and Shawnee Mission South will also be joining the trip.

“We are flying into Paris, spending a few days there, and sightseeing. Then we are taking a train down to Niece and Marseilles and doing the family stay. After that, we are going to Monaco for a day and then flying home,” junior Sydney Van Ophem Says.

Van Ophem and junior           Sarah Baghdadi agree the most nerve-wracking part of the trip is the family stay.

During the visit, students will have the opportunity to be completely immersed in the French culture by living with a family that has a child the same age as the student.

Baghdadi said she is apprehensive because the students are required to speak French the whole time.

This summer will be Bar’s 12th trip to France with French students.

The cost is around $4,300 and students must receive an invitation from Bar in order to attend.

In order to do this, they have to be enrolled in French 3.0 or a higher level. They also must have shown proficiency in their learning and their love for the language. I’m really excited and can’t wait to go!” Baghdadi said. Day_Sarah_NewsStory
