On Nov. 30, 2018, The 1975, an alternative band formed in Manchester, released their third studio album titles A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships.

Prior to their release of the album they released their first single, Give Yourself a Try, on June 1st, 2018, followed by Love It if We Made It on July 19th, TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME on August 15th, Sincerity Is Scary on September 13th and their latest single, It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You) on October 18th.

The album consists of fifteen songs — two less than their last album — and lasts a total of 58 minutes. The album plays with themes of technology and the internet as told through their song A Man Who Married a Robot/ Love Theme, a satirical take on humans attachment to the internet.

Matty Healy, the lead singer of the band, opens up about his addiction to drugs in songs like Give Yourself a Try and It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You), with lines such as “‘Cause you’ll move somewhere sunny and get addicted to drugs” andCollapse my veins wearing beautiful shoes/It’s not living if it’s not with you”.

The band’s new album has already hit number one on the U.K.’s charts and is expected to reach more in the meantime.
