ECKMEA District Concert
Last Friday and Saturday, students who previously auditioned for the ECKMEA Band and made it were put into three bands based on their audition and performed various songs they rehearsed that Saturday night. While once something that only lasted one night, it was expanded for both halves of Friday while still keeping all day Saturday to let students get to know their clinician better and prepare and know their music even more. Students who performed at this concert now have the option to audition for All-State later on.
KU Model UN Results
Last Saturday, Model UN traveled to Lawrence, KS where senior Danny Amezola received distinguished delegate for the soviet committee with the school receiving four out of nine awards while still being the smallest school at this competition. Additionally, two other members who went placed and received best delegate. Overall, “I thought it was really great and enjoyed ranting about communism, which is always a plus,” Amezola said.
Gold, Black, and Gray
With the BV Tiger Band getting bigger and bigger and basketball games coming up, the band has decided to split into three different bands performing at different basketball games instead of the usual two. While there was originally the black and gold band, the gray band will be added on in the hopes that there will be more and more people showing up for different basketball games, not just varsity. Additionally, it allows for the band to continue to grow, despite splitting up for basketball games.
