Imagine running down the street. Your chest is going up and down fast. You wonder when you can stop, but you know you have to keep going. Your feet move forward, carrying you on until you reach the finish. Now you stop and breath in, knowing you are done. Now you’re on the soccer field. The ball is moving fast down the pitch, and you’re running, staying with the ball. The whistle blows and you’re done for the day. You can go home now and rest and you’ll be back there tomorrow. Just think of how good it will feel to lie down on your bed and sleep. Freshman Hunter Myers knows exactly how it feels to use every drop of your energy every day. “On the inside, at cross country, it feels like you just want to stop. But you know if you stop you will get yelled at, which is not the best thing so you just keep pushing yourself and you get better every day,” Myers said. Even though playing two sports at once is a huge time commitment, Myers just can’t get enough of them. “Every week, I get around 18 hours of exercise during the week and that really is a time commitment because I don’t have time to do my homework necessarily and I’m always really tired, but you know what? Sports are life,” Myers said. Her athletic career started when she was very young and she hasn’t stopped loving sports and the relationships that come with them. “I started playing sports when I was 4,” Myers said, “I don’t necessarily have a favorite memory, but my favorite thing that happens is making friends and keeping those relationships over time.” Myers has had many accomplishments that show she is crazy talented, but freshman Sydney Wallick can’t get enough of Myers’ athleticism. “She’s crazy athletic and she does so much. I wish I was that athletic. I’m just amazed at how well she handles it all. She’s just so good, I can’t comprehend it,” Wallick said. Myers plans to continue running varsity cross country and playing soccer for the high school and help take home many more championships in the upcoming years. “The next three years in high school I plan to run cross country in the fall every year and then in the spring, I plan on playing soccer,” Myers said. After high school Myers doesn’t plan to give up sports. Even though she will have many accomplishments by then, she said she wants to keep adding more to her collection. “I’m pretty proud of myself, but I want to make varsity next year for cross country and maybe have college scouts come look at me for cross country. Maybe that will be another accomplishment I can add,” Myers said.
