Like everyone else, my Spotify has been very, very familiar with Christmas music for the past few weeks. However, despite the vast abundance of carols available to me, I find myself repeating a select few. I present to you my top five favorite Christmas songs.
- “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”
It’s a classic, it’s iconic, and any carol list wouldn’t be complete without it. Every year, Bing Crosby’s voice beckons me into the winter season. It’s the perfect song to blast on Black Friday to officially begin Christmastime.
- “White Winter Hymnal”
Technically, this isn’t a Christmas song–it doesn’t actually mention the holiday itself, but it is a wintery and fabulous song nonetheless. It’s kind of haunting, but it is a certified bop. I can never listen to it only once–whenever I put it on, I have to loop it at least six times.
- “Winter Wonderland”
More specifically, Laufey’s “Winter Wonderland.” Anything Laufey sings is automatically top three material–I am deeply obsessed with her. Any version of this song is top tier, though. It makes me feel warm and cozy. Even just thinking about it makes me want to drink a mug of hot chocolate.
- “Thank God It’s Christmas”
This song is really only so high because I love Queen. In all honesty, I think the song itself is fine. I love Queen, I love Christmas–a song that fulfills both of those is automatically (almost) my favorite.
Honorary Mentions:
“All I Want for Christmas is You”, “Underneath the Tree”, and “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call.”
- “Last Christmas”
This song is fated to be the best Christmas song–George Michael literally died on Christmas. It is the perfect mix of pop, the pretty 80s sound, and festivity. I could listen to it a million times without getting bored of it, and the only reason it doesn’t make my Spotify Wrapped is because luckily, it stops counting before December.
