The Tigers won the Friday-night football matchup against the Turner Golden Bears by a final score of 56 – 7.
Wide receiver, senior Jacob McDermott scored five total touchdowns: three receiving, one rushing and one kickoff return, in a game that was really never in doubt. Senior Bryant Reber also had two interceptions for the Tiger defense.
BV quarterback, junior Kyle Zimmerman made his first career start and hooked up with McDermott for a touchdown on his first pass attempt as a starter.
“It felt very good, I was kind of nervous so it was good to get it under my belt,” Zimmerman said about his first of four touchdown passes on the night.
After the opening kickoff was booted into the end zone by junior Austin Johnson for a touch-back, the Golden Bears first offensive play from scrimmage resulted in a fumble recovered by defensive end, senior Shawn Briley.
The Tigers took advantage on the following play with a 20-yard touchdown connection from Zimmerman to McDermott. From there the Tigers never looked back, jumping out to a 21-0 first quarter lead after a touchdown reception by senior Paul Debey and a 40-yard run by junior Justin Fulks.
Turner bounced back with an 80-yard breakaway run by running back De’andre Walters; however, the Golden Bears were unable to muster any more scoring for the rest of the night.
The Tigers scored twice more in the second quarter on a Mcdermott reception and a four-yard rush by senior Hayden Murray and went into halftime leading 49-7.
Following a scoreless third quarter, BV scored once more in the fourth on a Zimmerman to McDermott pass, going up 56-7.
