The Tigers beat Bishop Miege 28-13 in a Friday night football match-up. It was the Tigers’ toughest competition of the season against a league rival and the defending 4A State Champions, but BV managed to advance to 4-0.
After both teams punted on their opening possession, the Stags moved the ball down the field to the BV 13 yard line where the Tigers stopped them on fourth down.
The Tiger offense drove down the field and scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run by senior Hayden Murray, after a 36-yard reception by senior Jacob McDermott.
The Stags went three and out on the next possession and the punt was returned by senior Bryant Reber to the Miege 36 yard line.
Quarterback, junior Kyle Zimmerman connected with senior Paul DeBey to give BV a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter Keenan Savage of Miege put his team right back in the game with a 50-yard touchdown run.
The Tigers answered with a long drive that milked the clock. They leaned heavily on their running game and junior Justin Fulks delivered on consecutive carries for first downs, followed by a 22-yard touchdown run.
“Our coaches kept us in the right mind and kept us composed,” Fulks said.
BV led 21-7 at the half.
The Tiger defense stopped a Miege drive into BV territory in the second half with an interception by senior Eric Skaggs.
Zimmerman completed a 40-yard pass to DeBey on the following drive. BV capped off the drive with Fulks’ second touchdown run of the night.
Miege did not score again until under a minute to play in the fourth quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass to Tre Parmalee with the game already out of reach.
After a failed two-point conversion by the Stags, BV recovered the onside kick.
The Tigers kneeled the ball and ran out the clock. The game ended with a score of 28-13.
BV moves to 4-0 with win over Miege
