Tiger wrestlers competed in the 5A State wrestling tournament last weekend, Feb. 26 and 27.
Senior Tyler Hendrickson and placed third and senior Jon Hayward placed sixth.
“Tyler competed in what I would consider one of the toughest weight brackets in the state,” wrestling coach Jason Peres said. “He pinned the defending state champion. That’s a big deal.”
Peres said he is proud of this years senior wrestlers for sticking with it four years in a row.
“Wrestling is one of the toughest sports in high school,” he said. “It’s really an accomplishment to do it all throughout high school, and I think the seniors definitely finished strong.”
Peres said he is happy with the outcome from the State tournament and the entire wrestling season.
“Looking at where to started to where we ended, we improved dramatically,” he said. “And I’m very happy with the results from State.”
