The boys golf team placed third out of 18 teams yesterday in the Free State High School golf tournament.
Seniors Greg Graves and Dakota Clark and junior Austin Johnson led the team. Graves and Clark each shot at 75 and Johnson shot one over par at 73.
Clark said the varsity golfers work well together because of their experience playing together both in practice and tournaments.
“We’re usually not very serious unless we are about to have a tournament,” Clark said. “We talk a lot less to each other in tournaments and try to focus on the game. If someone does have a bad day we tell him it’s going to get better. We know what to say to each other.”
The team will compete in the Shawnee Mission Northwest Invitational at Lake Quivira Golf Course on Monday, April 11.
