Junior Courtney Carpenter said the transition from club to high school season is difficult, but it is one of her favorites.
“The difference between club and high school [volleyball] is there are so many rule changes and you go from having practices two to three nights a week to having it every day,” Carpenter said. “The tryouts are also completely different when it comes to high school and club.”
At tryouts this year, players showed their skills through drills to test their mental capabilities.
“it weeds out the people that really want to be there and that want to compete at this high of a level” Carpenter said.
When tryouts come to an end, teams begin to form and start daily practices to prepare for upcoming games.
“Practices are usually pretty intense,” Junior Whitney Hinmon said. “We definitely use the time given in practice to work on things that need improvement,”
Teams that practice daily begin to become close with their teammates Hinmon said.
“I love our team. I feel like we really connect with each other and we all really just mesh well together.” Hinmon said. “I think that is something that will benefit us to being more successful this season” is difficult, but it is one of her favorites.
