Team prepares for State
The 2016-2017 wrestling season is coming to a close.
The wrestlers have been preparing for the regional tournament and State tournament with additional practices and longer practices. They have also had special guests join in on their practices for an extra challenge.
“[Math teacher Matt] Shipley and I wrestled one time. It was fun and he actually isn’t too bad,” sophomore Alex Totta said.
The regional tournament took place at BV on February 17, 18 and 19 with 9 wrestlers qualifying for State.
The State tournament will be held on February 23, 24 and 25 in Wichita, Kansas. The team will have practices in between the different days of State meets at Andover High School in order to keep up their skills and perform to the best of their ability.
“I hope that we can pull a win for BV,” Totta said. “We’ve been working really hard all season, and we all want to do our best. It would be cool to see all the hard work pay off.”
