Junior Varsity baseball team wins Eastern Kansas League for second year in a row
On Tuesday, May 9, the Blue Valley JV baseball team defeated BV Southwest in a double header 3-1 and 10-6. These two wins also gave the Tigers the JV EKL championship for the second year in a row. Junior center fielder Braedyn Brewer said it feels amazing to end the season with a league title.
“We are really proud of how we did,” Brewer said. “We’re really proud of accomplishing this because of how hard we worked during practice.”
Brewer said they understood what was at stake before their games on Tuesday.
“We know we needed to win both games to win the EKL,” Brewer said. “We were nervous, but everyone gets a little nervous when they have to win a game like this.”
The JV Tigers started the season 6-2 and finished on a 12 game winning streak. Brewer said they practiced really hard to improve throughout the season, and winning JV EKL this year should carry over confidence to varsity next year.
“Winning JV EKL shows us we will have success next year because of how well we did against the other JV teams,” Brewer said. “Everyone will be working hard this summer on their summer teams. We start [school workouts] again in October with hopes of having similar success [in the Spring].”
