With every new school year, there are always changes in our lives, whether it be in our classes and schedules, or in our friendships and relationships with others.
Freshmen who are just stepping into high school are overwhelmed with all the new people, information, and opportunities available. Seniors, almost out the door, are waiting for the major events like homecoming, prom, graduation, and eventually life after high school.
Some are ready for these new changes, but many are looking back and wishing that everything didn’t have to change. They are wishing that they could go back to being in their favorite class again, weekends where they didn’t have to study, or summers without any responsibilities.
This cycle is never-ending, so no matter how much you don’t want anything to change, you can’t go back. Change is hard. It is unpredictable and inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you have to hate it.
‘The past is set in stone, but the future is yet to come’ is a common idiom meaning one can’t change the past, but they can change the future. They can’t always change their circumstances, but they can change their outlook on it. Think on the brighter side of change, and how the new school year can be a new, better year. It can have more interesting classes, new opportunities for colleges and jobs, new memories with friends, and a new start.
