Last Friday, Sept. 6, the Blue Valley Tigers kicked off their season with a win against Gardner-Edgerton.
This being the first game played in the new stadium, BV put it to great use. The stadium flooded with super fan anxious to watch the season get started.
With Gardner’s city-wide ranking, the Tigers were prepared to come out fighting. Losing the coin toss, the tigers receive the ball. The team was quick to start off the game with a touchdown scored by senior Chance Nelson in the first quarter. Throughout the game two more touchdowns were scored with a team effort. The Tigers went four for four with extra points ending the game with a score of 28-0. BV’s defensive line was dominant throughout the game with a minimal amount of errors. Not allowing any touchdowns BV’s defensive team came out on top to help lead the Tigers to their shutout. Scoring in each quarter, the Tigers offensive team was too much for Gardner.
“The team did what they had to do and worked hard,” football coach Eric Driskell said. “It was a pretty good game.”
